5 Things I’ve Learned Since Becoming A Mama

I've learned a lot about motherhood, life, children and even myself in the past 3 years since becoming a mama. So many things I know now that I wish I knew when I first gave birth to my little girl (even things I wish I knew when I was expecting), so I'm excited to be partnering with Gerber to share a few things I've learned since becoming a mama that will hopefully help if you're a new mama or an expectant mama, and also to share a little about their Gerber® Pure® Water (available at Walmart)!

1 | MESSES DON'T MATTER [THAT MUCH]
Messes don't matter. I mean they do, but they also don't. One way we've found to have less messes is by having less and embracing minimalism to a certain extent, less things equals less to clean up. But In the long run though, little ones won't remember the messes and toys everywhere, they won't remember that there were dishes not done because you were too tired to do them or because you chose to spend a few extra minutes playing with or reading to your little one(s), they'll remember you and the time you spent with them.

2 | DON'T WORRY WHAT OTHERS THINK [YOU'RE DOING A GREAT JOB MAMA]
This is a big one, and one I wish I would have taken to heart before becoming a mama. I spent the first couple of years of motherhood worrying about what people would think of my parenting decisions, hearing people talk about me because I chose not to do this or that, chose not to use this or that. I heard it all. I really wish I would have ignored all of it instead of being anxious and stressing over what others thought.

3 | THE DAYS ARE LONG, BUT THE YEARS ARE SHORT [ENJOY THE LITTLE MOMENTS]
This gets me right in the feels for sure. It sounds so cliche, but it's oh so true. Some days feel like they drag on forever, with whining and crying (yep, we all know those days that I'm talking about), but trust me, in the long run, you won't even remember those days, they'll fade into the past and all you'll remember are the sweet snuggles and adorable things they said or did. You'll go to sleep when they're four months old, and wake up to them turning four years old. It's so crazy how that happens, seemingly overnight. So make sure to enjoy all the little moments, you'll be so glad you did :)

4 | YOU KNOW WHAT'S BEST FOR YOUR CHILD [TRUST YOUR MAMA INTUITION]
With so many people always giving you advice, pretty much starting at the moment you pee on that little stick and get a positive, and especially once baby arrives, it's so hard as a new mom to muddle through it all and figure out what actually is good advice and what isn't. My best advice, trust your gut, trust your mama intuition and trust your instincts. People can offer their advice and tell you what to do all they want, but ultimately, only you know what's best for your child and you. Maybe something isn't for you, but then again maybe it is, so many people told us not to do this or that, and some people even went as far as to shame us for some decisions we made, but we chose to do what felt more natural to us and to do what always worked best for us. There are so many things you'll come across like this but my best advice is to just do what you feel is best for you and your little one(s).

5 | FEEDING SHOULDN'T BE STRESSFUL [IT'S JUST FOOD AFTER ALL]
Another big thing is food, I'm all for breastfeeding if you're able, but ultimately, my biggest belief, is that fed is best! Bella was breastfed, but was also formula fed as well after a few months due to my milk supply tanking. I put so much pressure on myself during that time to only breastfeed and felt like I was letting my baby down by not being able to exclusively breastfeed. Looking back, I now know that I was unfortunately drawn in by peer pressure and that fed is actually what's best for babies. Making sure they have the nutrients they need, have full tummies and are healthy and growing, whether it be from breast milk or formula. Recently, while at Walmart I spotted this product from Gerber, Gerber® Pure® Water (found in the water aisle)! Gerber® Pure® Water is water, pure and simple, but is specially purified for babies (click here to learn more about Nestlé Gerber and Gerber® Pure® Water). So Gerber® Pure® Water can be used for mixing with infant formula or cereal. You can bet we'll be stocking up on Gerber® Pure® Water and also stocking our pantry with many other Gerber products when baby number two comes along, it'll be perfect for filling up bottles, mixing with rice cereal and even in sippy cups or water bottles as a little one get's older! Gerber® Pure® Water is a great purified water option to mix with formula or stir into baby cereal.

Do you have any tips for mamahood? What do you love most about Gerber® Pure® Water?
